David Adelman
Founder
A self-made entrepreneur, David made his first investment more than 30 years ago when he decided to invest $2,000 in a student housing business called Campus Apartments. Fast forward to today… David is now the CEO of that company and one of the leading experts on university-affiliated real estate development. Under David’s leadership, Campus Apartments has grown into one of the nation’s largest providers of on-and off-campus housing units with more than $2 billion in assets under management.
When he’s not leading the team at Campus Apartments, David serves as an active private investor and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and Vice Chairman of FS Investments, a leading manager of alternative investment funds, with $24 Billion of Assets Under Management. Adelman also serves as the lead investor and Lead Director of Wheels Up.
A sports fan at heart, David has invested in Crystal Palace, a Premier League soccer team; the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the AAA affiliate of the New York Yankees; the 76ers Incubator and Team Dignitas.
In addition, Adelman is on the Actua Corporation (Nasdaq: ACTA) Board of Directors; Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Foundation Board of Overseers; Board of Councilors of the USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education; Vice Chair of University City District Board of Directors; and a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). Adelman was named the 2009 recipient of Multifamily Executive magazine’s prestigious “Executive of the Year” award. He was also selected as the 2010 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the real estate category in Greater Philadelphia.
David enjoys mentoring teams from a board perspective to build the next generation of technology and consumer businesses.
